A tribute to faith-filled fathers

As Father’s Day, celebrated this year on June 21, approached, members of the Diocese of Gary took a moment to share with the Northwest Indiana Catholic praise for their fathers for all they do for their families. Below are the responses gathered by staff.

“My father has been the best blessing in my life. Every day I always give thanks to God for him. He is the most encouraging and loving father. He constantly reminds me to look on the bright side. Throughout my life, my dad has been a big part of my religious journey. He leads us in daily prayer to bring us closer to God and seek the Lord's wisdom. I love you so much Dad!”

“My father is faith-filled because of all the things he does for the faith community. My father went to Catholic schools all his life, from St. Thomas More to Bishop Noll, and to St. Leo University. As an active parishioner of St. Thomas More, he serves as a lector and a marriage prep facilitator.”

“One of my greatest blessings from God is my father! His example of generosity, mercy and unconditional love allows me to connect with God Our Father. His care gives me absolute confidence to trust that God will give me what is BEST for me even though sometimes it doesn't seem best. This gift is INVALUABLE in the uncertainty of our world today!”
Theresa Thiel Birlson,
parishioner, St. John the Evangelist, St. John

“Our dad, Robert Whalen, is a faith-filled father because he has taught us to help others and volunteer to help during church activities. He has shown us the importance of our Catholic faith. He actively participates in church, being a cantor, teacher for teen RCIA, and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Michael Council. We are proud of our father and all that he has taught us.”
